Proposal

This is my proposal on my advert :

Name of the product : Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Pink

Target Audience : women from age 20 - 40 who wants a sustainable choice which also matches their style.

Idea : 

- In the  girl in a fight with her boyfriend, he's saying "oh you cant do this, ofc you cant do that" he's underestimating her because she's a girl, another girl overheard (Devon Aoki), she pulls the girl aside and told the guy "she's breaking up with you". In another shot the girl and Devon Aoki goes shopping with Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Pink, they went on a crazy shopping spree and passes by the ex with the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV pink and says "you sure i can't do that?". The tagline will be "Empowering women"

The star appeal to attract target audience: 

(suki - fast furious / Devon Aoki)

after the revision with mr nick i've come up with a revision:

- setting is in the boyfriends car, the girl ask if she can drive the car, the guy tells her "no this is a mans car, you can't drive this car your a girl". Suddenly Devon Aoki appears by opening the girls car door and said "she's breaking up with you". Then the girl ask, "what am i gonna do now?". Devon Aoki says "i've got just the car for you". The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Pink appears then the girl and Devon Aoki drives around. They passed by the ex and she says "see? i can do better then you". Then they left and tag line will be "empowering women".

From here i learned how to make a good storyboard ad, at first coming up with the idea was really hard but in the end i managed to do it after consulting with Mr. nick. This proposal helped me with making the storyline for my storyboard ad.

This is the first time i tried doing a storyboard ad, it was hard at first because i didn't really understand how it goes but after awhile i am able to understand the flow of the storyboard making. This is really useful for making my final storyboard ad.

This is project for my advert target audience :

Company/Product Name: Wuling hongguang mini ev in pink

Product Overview: The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Pink is a charming and compact electric vehicle designed to make a bold statement while offering eco-friendly urban mobility. Combining a stylish exterior with modern technology, this electric car caters to the needs and preferences of dynamic, fashion-forward individuals.


2. Target Audience Demographics:


Age: 20 - 40


Gender: Women


Income Level: Already at work with a big amount of income


Education: passed university 


Occupation: working, owns a business


Geographical Location: anywhere


3. Target Audience Psychographics:


Interests: Fashionable and practical transportation solutions, and interest in pink colour


Lifestyle Choices: Embracing eco-friendly while showing style and personal preference


Values and Attitudes: Prioritizing sustainability, modernity, convenience and style


Opinions: Appreciating innovative and stylish vehicles.


4. Understanding Consumer Behavior:


Needs: An eco friendly car that suits their style to self express.

Motivations: Desire for a modern vehicle that expresses them

Pain Points: Balancing the need for efficient transport with making eco-conscious choices, its also pink

Pain Points: Balancing the need for efficient transport with making eco-conscious choices, its also pink


7. Aligning Advertisement with Target Audience:


Message: "Empowring women to drive the Future in Style with Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Pink!"

Visuals: Show a fashinable girl using the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Pink in various city settings, highlighting its stylish pink design and eco-friendly features.

Tone: happy, pink, stylish

From here i learn how to align the target audience with the product, or ad i am using. At first it's hard to find the perfect idea but after researching finally i am able to come up with a good idea.  I think the target audience making really helped in making the final storyboard ad.

Text Analysis : A Quiet Place

Here's my text analysis of the movie : A Quiet Place

Intro:

   The text was extracted from the movie "A Quiet Place". The filmmaker wanted to show us that (1) Everyone that is left in the city stays as quiet as possible to hide from something/someone, The place is abandoned only a few people left (2).

    Everyone that is left in the city stays as quiet as possible to hide from something/someone. This was proven from the camera angle long shot which shows the rusty buildings and leaves all around. The connotation of leaves and rusty buildings is abandoned place, unmaintained which shows the audience how empty and abandoned the place is. The close up of the missing people newspapers and leaves all around The connotation of that is lot of people has gone missing, no idea where when but they are missing. Explaining why it's so empty in there, no one walking by, no cars driving around. The effect on the audience is it makes them question what has happen, and what is going on. Then we see a young girl with messy hair tiptoeing in a close up shot, and trucking camera movement. Using the close up shot the audiences attention focuses on what she was doing, which is tiptoeing around. The connotation of what she was doing means that she is hiding, scared to get caught. Then over the shoulder shot of a girl witnessing the mom and son together, the mom treating the son and talking in sign language. The connotation of this is that they are extremely quiet not even speaking, trying not to attract any attention at all and it proves the point that they are hiding from something/someone. The close up shot of the mom taking a medicine in the self with things scattered shows us that the place is so abandoned they can just take something immediately without paying. Connotation is they are in survival mode. From the camera angle close up and camera movement tilt it shows of the boy trying to take a plane toy from the top shelf and the plane toy falling down, but the girl catching it in time. The connotation of it is that even that kind of noise is dangerous for them. This is also proven with the sound (diegesis) of the toy abt to fall and the bg music with violin creating the feeling of suspension.

1. This is my storyboard advertisement research:

Title of the Advertisement: MoneySuperMarket "thats how i roll"

Brand/Product: Insurance

Duration of the Advertisement: 1 minute

Brief Overview/Summary: Basically if u have that insurance ur like "safe, confident, cool"


1. Target Audience

  • middle aged men (18-30)


2. Message and Purpose

  • Message : if u use the insurance then you can get the life you want

  • purpose: to be remembered when we're gonna use it

  • Discuss the purpose of the advertisement and what the brand/product aims to achieve through it.


3. Meaning and Interpretation

  • They use gangsters, weird guy who became "cool" after using the insurance, rappers, party

  • so the gangsters is used to show what the weird guy wants to be (cool), the party and rappers

  • is the lifestyle he wants. This ad is saying that he can get the life he wants by using this insurance.

  • The song choice matches the lifestyle he wants

4. Effectiveness

  • i think it is quite effective because it is memorable, but the ad doesn't really show the product and it

doesn't make sense as much.
  • Discuss the persuasive techniques used, such as emotional appeal, humor, celebrity endorsement, etc.

Title of the Advertisement: Cadburys Chocolate

Brand/Product: Chocolate

Duration of the Advertisement: 1 minute 30 seconds

Brief Overview/Summary: Gorilla playing drums


1. Target Audience

  • young audience, teenagers


2. Message and Purpose

  • Message : Eating cadbury chocolate makes you feel good

  • purpose: to be remembered when we're gonna eat chocolate


3. Meaning and Interpretation

  • Gorilla playing drums made it catchy (since usually gorilla do not play drums??)

  • colours are purple and brown (colour of the chocolate)

  • Music choice is suitable to the ad

  • Made it super random so that ppl remember it even more bcs of its unusual ad


4. Effectiveness

  • effective since its random and funny and very catchy.

5. Personal Response

  • My personal opinion on this ad is its funny and enjoyable and memorable bcs i love the music choice

Title of the Advertisement: Barbie So In Style

Brand/Product: Barbie doll

Duration of the Advertisement: 30 secs

Brief Overview/Summary: promoting the new barbie doll which have hair tools that can be used on the

doll's hair


1. Target Audience

  • young girls(7-11), dark skin girls.


2. Message and Purpose

  • They are trying to say that Barbie isn't just for the blonde white skin tone but for dark skin tone girls too!

  • They wanted to reach another target audience which is dark skin tone girls.


3. Meaning and Interpretation

  • Using dark skin barbie dolls, have tools to play with barbie's hair, having dark skinned actors,

  • and songs to match the vibe

  • Since they are trying to get to a new target audience then they hired actors (kids) who looked like that.

  • The tools are like "what they can do" with the barbie doll, which is styling hair

  • It's saying that barbie is for everyone and something like "you can be barbie too"

  • Its also saying like "barbie is fun"


4. Effectiveness

  • Pretty effective it obviously captured the attention of dark skin girls

  • it used dark skin colour actors who looked just like the barbie dolls which promotes the dolls more.

  • It also uses a choice of music that supports the ad


5. Personal Response

  • i respectfully do not like the ad because it was too weird for me but i think, it will capture the audience's

attention

Brand/Product: 2014 Chevy Commercial - Maddie

Duration of the Advertisement: 1.13

Brief Overview/Summary: its about a girl who has a golden retriever which is always there in her life.


1. Target Audience

  • pet lovers (dogs), women in the twenties


2. Message and Purpose

  • The message the ad gave me is about having a best friend for life's journey (which in this case is actually

the dog, but they are advertising the car)
  • The purpose is capturing the audience's attention, by putting a dog in the ad and making the ad emotional


3. Meaning and Interpretation

  • The ad has a dark kind if saturation making the setting kind of sad, the dog and the girl growing up together

makes it feel more heartfelt and heartwarming,
  • music is also classical (supporting the video).

  • No words used in the video until the last one "best friend for life's journey" which matches what the video

is about, making sense.

4. Effectiveness

  • It is effective if the person can relate to the video (have pets, like dogs, or able to relate growing up with a

"best friend") because then it will capture their attention and bring out feelings.
  • it used persuasive techniques like putting a golden retriever, which is cute and therefore capturing attention,

its emotional bcs its like growing up together with the dog by your side, making it more memorable.
  • They also put the car in the ad but unnoticeable until the end which makes the advertising not obvious.

5. Personal Response

  • My personal opinion in this ad is i really really like it, it will def be memorable to me, and really brings out my

emotions.
  • Since i have a dog, and its also a golden retriever the ad really worked on me because i watch the whole

thing and even repeated it again and again.

Brand/Product: Ed's Heinz Ad

Duration of the Advertisement: 1.19

Brief Overview/Summary: about Ed sheeran dming heinz about this ad crazy idea


1. Target Audience

  • middle class people, adults, ppl with sense of humor


2. Message and Purpose

  • The message of this ad is that you will want heinz anywhere with you to make ur food taste better

  • The purpose is capturing the audience's attention, by making it funny, relatable and understandable


3. Meaning and Interpretation

  • This ad is more like the point of view of heinz when ed sheeran contacted them for this ad idea.

  • The words that are written are only on the beginning which says based on real dm

4. Effectiveness

  • It is very effective because of its relatable and funny content.

  • They are using ed sheeran's point of view which shows that he's in a fancy setting with fancy music and they

emphasizes the word "fancy and posh" in the ad, making it even more funny when ed sheeran pulled out the heinz
ketchup from his bag.
  • They also uses only one voice (ed sheeran) since they uses his point of view, which on the part when the

  • waiter talks he made it sound "posh fancy bla bla bla". From his point of view we can also see the way he
views the place which makes it even more funny because of the way he described it.
  • The ad is also natural and making it feel even more interactable.
  • it used persuasive techniques like using ed sheeran as the celebrity

who markets the sauce, because he genuinely loves heinz and people trust him.
  • They also use sense of humor as one of the main things to make people interested.

  • By making the ad more funny, natural and also relatable not only it attracts audience but it also makes
people able to remember.

5. Personal Response

  • My personal opinion in this i like it alot because of how ed sheeran made it from his experience and it

is also funny in a way that i can understand
  • I think one of the things that made it memorable and enjoyable is how ed sheeran voiced it

and how his expression is.

From the research of the 5 ads, it helped me to understand how i can interpret the ads and what elements are
used to make a good ads. Overall, I think this research will give me lots of ideas for my final storyboard project,
and I'll keep improving my skills along the way.

Weekly progress

Week 2:

- Introduction to camera shots

Week 3:

- camera movements 

- analyzing tv commercials

- demographic and psychographic 

- i still need to complete 2 advert analysis on the analyzing tv commercials 

Week 4 : 

- introduction about mis-en-scene

- made our target audience for the advert

- we made the practice storyboard

Week 5:

- learned about how sound (diegetic and non diegetic) work in media

- started making our storyboard ad draft

Week 6:

- introduction to edits

- analyze movie "a quiet place" for practice

week 7:

- i did the practice storyboard, it was pretty hard since it was my first attempt i was abit confused with everything going on, in the end i finished it well.

- we had our first unit test, i think i did pretty well since i am able to answer everything

- 1'st attempt of ad storyboard, not finished yet

- i still need to finish the practice storyboard and final storyboard

Week 8:

- I finished my draft story board, i thought it was hard but turns out if you already got the clear outline, then everything will be easier. 

- I finished draft for self reflection, i just need to input it to my ppt, it was hard to come up with the words for the self reflection, i learned on things i should improve and im more aware of the things i’ve been doing after the self reflection.
