Here's a video i made experimenting with different camera angles + movement
static / long shot : the long shots shown throughout the video makes it so that the audience can see there is nothing there with the subject (Sharon), or so it seems. it makes the audience feel that there's no one or nothing else besides Sharon, so the long shots would get the audience to feel like something IS there, it just isn't visible.
static / medium shot : medium shot is used here to show more of what the character is doing, in here we can see the character is searching for something but keeps looking looking back.
the change from long shot to medium shot then long shot again is to show what the character is looking at and it makes us feel curious and uneasy because the character looks paranoid although as we can see there is nothing visible there. It makes us question if the character is imagining things or is the character actually seeing things.
long shot to close up / zoom in : starting from static to zoom in it looks like something is moving close to the character, the zoom in is used to make it seem like something is following her from behind, then it is quickly cut off and we get a medium shot & static again which shows the character’s point of view which is nothing. In the sudden switch from zoom in to static and the camera movement it makes the audience feel paranoid and the audience build up to expect a jumpscare of sorts, only to find nothing

What i learned from here is how to use camera angles and movements to create a scene that can bring out feelings from people. long shots make the person stand out, medium ones show more action. Switching between them can create curiosity and unease. Zooming in makes it look like something is coming closer, making people nervous. But, when we go back to the regular view, we see nothing there. This builds tension without any big scare. In short, I learned that changing the camera can change how people feel when watching a video.
